The Team

Owned and managed by Dave and Henriette Rieger, together with their passionate and dedicated team, Inzalo Lodge offers the opportunity to escape, explore and immerse oneself in the daily rhythm of the African bush.

Dave grew up in the tourism industry, and both Dave and Henriette have a strong service orientation and a passion for nature. Their extensive consulting and operational excellence experience across many industries has served them well and made them versatile, curios, independent and great researchers, with a love for the great outdoors.

Dave and Henriette look forward to indulging guests with excellent cuisine, friendly South African hospitality and a wildlife experience that will leave our guests rejuvenated.

Our Vision and Values

At Inzalo Safari Lodge, nature is the main attraction and our team supports it by providing excellent service that makes for rejuvenating experiences for our guest.

The name Inzalo can loosely be translated to mean “born” or to be “re-born” symbolising/celebrating the rejuvenating characteristics of nature. When early conservationist Pienkes du Plessis did the groundwork for the establishment of the Welgevonden Reserve, his vision was to restore this beautiful landscape into a “wilderness reborn”. Since the establishment of the reserve in 1989, this dream has been realised through many years of dedication and hard work.

Our values include:

  • Community: it is the community within which we operate that makes everything happen.

  • Light footprint: We manage our business in an environmentally responsible manner, including how we deal with waste, energy consumption and grey water

  • Authentic: Fearlessly authentic to our African routes, we are proud to call Africa our home and keep the soul of nature as it has been through the ages

  • Energising and Rejuvenation: Where guests can rejuvenate in harmony with the restorative nature of this land, where work is as natural as play and laughter is the fuel

  • Respect: Nature comes first, and we aim to preserve it for generations to come – every team member provided the opportunity to be their best and guests will leave as friends.
